The endocrinologist Sotirios Bethanis was born and raised in Athens. In 1992 he entered the Medical School of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, where he graduated in 1998. He served as an intern at the Eberhard-Karls-Universität in Tübingen, Germany.

During his residency at the Endocrinology Clinic of the Athens General Hospital “Polyclinic” (Director: Mr. S. Tsagarakis) he gained valuable experience in the diagnostic and therapeutic treatment of a large number of regular and emergency cases in the field of Endocrinology. He obtained a Master’s Degree in Biostatistics from the Medical School of the University of Athens with a grade of “8.82 – Excellent” and, based on grading criteria, received a scholarship during his studies.He received the title of Doctor of the Medical School of the University of Athens with a grade of “Excellent”.

Following the required examinations, he was awarded the title of Endocrinology in April 2008 and since May 2008 he has been working as an Attending Physician at the Endocrinology Center for Diabetes and Metabolism of the Athens Euroclinic (Director Mrs. Elli Lakka-Papadodδημα), along with the operation of a private practice in Alimos.

In order to provide comprehensive treatment of endocrinological patients, she was trained in Cervical Ultrasound at the Ultrasound Centre of the G.Gennimatas Hospital.
As a result of his research activity to date, he has presented papers that have been published in reputable Greek and International journals and presented in Greek and International Conferences (14 full publications in foreign journals are indicatively mentioned) and his papers have been used as references in 105 International Publications.

He is married to the pediatrician-neonatologist Strepeli Fotini and is the father of two children.
